carpal tunnel treatment

Knee Injections

A small amount of joint fluid is first removed to create space for the hyaluronic acid injection. In some cases, doctors may also administer corticosteroid injections directly into the knee joint to provide rapid relief from pain and inflammation. The effects of these injections can last from a few days to over six months.

Shoulder Injections

In medicine, a joint injection (intra-articular injection) is a procedure used to treat inflammatory joint conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, tendinitis, bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and, in some cases, osteoarthritis.

Shoulder injections serve both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, with commonly injected substances including corticosteroids and hyaluronans.

Corticosteroids are powerful anti-inflammatory agents that help reduce swelling and inflammation. They are often used alongside physiotherapy rehabilitation and other medications to provide longer-lasting relief for conditions such as subacromial impingement syndrome, AC joint pathology, and inflammatory arthritides.

Hyaluronans offer additional anti-inflammatory benefits, coat pain receptors, stimulate the production of natural synovial fluid, and improve joint lubrication. They play a valuable role in managing degenerative synovial joint disease, particularly in cases where surgery is not an option.

Wrist Injections

Approximately 5% of Americans experience carpal tunnel syndrome, a condition caused by pressure on the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the palm. This pressure leads to symptoms such as pain, tingling, numbness, and weakness in the affected hand and wrist, sometimes extending up the arm.

The median nerve, along with several tendons, passes through a narrow passage in the wrist called the carpal tunnel. When compressed, it can result in discomfort and impaired hand function.

Cortisone injections typically begin working within 3 to 5 days, with effects lasting from several days to a few months. If the first injection does not provide relief within two to three weeks, a second injection may be recommended.

Ankle Injections

Hyaluronic acid, also known as a viscosupplementation or rooster comb injection, is used to treat osteoarthritis in the knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, and ankle. While it is currently FDA and insurance-approved only for the knee, ongoing studies are evaluating its effectiveness in other joints.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule found in healthy cartilage. In arthritic or damaged cartilage, its levels are significantly reduced. These injections help manage pain, improve joint lubrication, and replenish hyaluronic acid levels. Additionally, they stimulate the joint to produce more of this essential molecule, aiding in overall joint function.

CT (Carpal Tunnel)

Corticosteroid treatment can offer temporary relief from carpal tunnel syndrome . Injections tend to be more effective than oral corticosteroids. If you experience pain, tingling, or numbness in your hand, carpal tunnel syndrome may be the cause.
