Muscle Disease
An electromyogram (EMG) evaluates the electrical activity of muscles both at rest and during movement, while nerve conduction studies assess how efficiently and quickly nerves transmit electrical signals.
Nerves control muscles through electrical impulses, which trigger specific movements and reactions. When there is a nerve or muscle disease, these impulses may cause abnormal muscle responses, helping to identify underlying issues.
If you have leg pain or numbness, you may have these tests to find out which nerves are being affected and how much they are affected. These tests check how well your spinal nerves are working. They also check the nerves in your arms and legs.
